Tapestry of Hope No. 2

Tapestry of Hope no. 2 is a multi-media installation inspired by women who have suffered at the hands of repressive governments. Regardless of the many attempts to dehumanize them, these women have an unbreakable bond that stems from their shared experiences.  These simple articles of clothing, pinned together, work together to form a silent wall that represents their strong sense of identity.  I want to invite the viewer to quietly observe the repetitive patterns, the subtle hues that become sacred and glorious only when observed through reverent eyes. I believe that everyday acts can easily be overseen and undervalued.  When I see a piece of woman's clothing, what comes to mind is the story behind this woman. What is it that she sacrificed? We as women are expected to give and it is an honor to give. Tapestry of Hope is all about, each little act that women have put together with an act of love, with an act of determination, with an act of perseverance can be seen as a strong movement.  A strong force of hope.
